Hany is an aviation professional that brings over 20 years of experience in the aviation industry, progressively holding executive leadership positions in various airlines, ICAO, and MedAire, an International SOS company. Hany led and navigated various aviation businesses in over 120 countries through some of the most dynamic environments in the world having worked in commercial, Heads of States, budget, charter, freighters, and business aviation operators. He held executive positions in airline operations, safety, quality, security, risk management and at the UN specialised agency ICAO.

In his capacity as Senior Vice President Aviation & Maritime Security with MedAire International, Hany is responsible for ensuring MedAire International’s aviation and maritime security risk management initiatives and support to the aviation industry remains at a cutting edge from strategic oversight to a forward-leaning innovation framework.

Before joining MedAire, Hany was most recently part of the ICAO Middle East team as Regional Officer Aviation Security and Facilitation. Prior to this, Hany was the Security Director Aviation Security & Maritime for International SOS, and was part of the executive leadership team of Qatar Airways as acting VP Group Security where he was accountable for all aspects of aviation and corporate security worldwide, ensuring the company’s 50,000 employees and operation in over 100 countries were operating safely through strategic and operational oversight and in compliance with national and international regulations.

Hany was the Chairman of the oneworld Alliance Security Group, Chairman of the Arab Air Carriers’ Organisation (AACO) Security Intelligence TaskForce, Chairman of the Qatar Airways Security Risks & Threats & Security Action Groups and a member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Security Executive Group representing 290 airlines ensuring capacity building, information sharing, global lobbying with local and international entities and authorities is achieved for the best interest of member airlines.

Phil Balmer is Director of Maintenance of TAG Aviation Asia, based in Hong Kong. In this role, he is responsible for the Continuing Airworthiness of the fleet, plus TAG’s Part 145-line maintenance team.

Having a passion for aviation as long as he can remember, Mr. Balmer started his Aviation career in 1987, as an Avionics technician with a corporate aviation maintenance company in Brisbane, Australia. In 1996 he left his homeland to broaden his experience and horizons when he joined Jet Aviation Singapore, where he held the positions of Avionics Supervisor, Maintenance Manager, and Director of Maintenance. During this time, the company was awarded ‘Best FBO in Middle East and Asia’ by Pro Pilot, several years in a row.

In 2004 he was assigned the role of Manager for Jet Aviation Dubai, requiring complete oversight of the facility, and creation of an FBO and maintenance operation from zero. The facility quickly attained the accolade of ‘Best Middle East and African FBO’, and in 2007 was also voted in the top 5 FBO’s outside the USA, by Aviation International News. In 2008, Mr. Balmer was asked by Jet Aviation to pursue another start-up opportunity and joint venture development in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

In 2010, Mr. Balmer joined TAG Aviation Asia in Hong Kong as the Director Maintenance, where he is responsible for the fleet technical management, including the entry into service of new aircraft.

Mr. Balmer is a licensed engineer holding Australia, EASA, and FAA A&P certificates, and is type rated on Bombardier Global, Challenger 601/604/605, Learjet 20/30 series, Gulfstream IV, Falcon 900/EX, and Citation X. He is also an FAA Multi Engine, Commercial, Instrument rated pilot. Mr. Balmer is a member of various industry customer committees, including the Bombardier 7000/ 8000 industry steering committee, Rolls Royce C3, and Honeywell Global Customer Committee.

Étienne Côté has been involved in air safety for much of his career -- from being an active pilot and an advocate for human factors learning, to an authorized air safety investigator and a member of the Bombardier Safety Standdown Advisory Council (SSD).

He joined Bombardier in 2007 as an Instructor/Pilot before serving as a Customer Liaison Pilot for seven years delivering Challenger and Global business jet aircraft to operators worldwide. After a brief period as a production test pilot, Étienne joined Bombardier’s Aircraft Demonstration unit in early 2020.

He began his aviation career in 1991 as a Flight Attendant for a major Canadian airline before eventually becoming involved in corporate flight operations as a pilot, where he is currently accredited on the Challenger 300 and 600 series, as well as the Global 6000 and 7000 series aircraft, and has logged over 4,000 hours. In addition to his pilot duties, Étienne has acquired a diverse array of experience by holding positions in Line and Ground Operations, as well as Airport Manager, Training Captain, and Manager of Training. He also previously owned a training consultancy company.

Étienne has always been an advocate for ensuring the industry has a better understanding and inclusion of Human Factors with regards to cockpit operation and procedure design. As such, he has led a Bombardier Checklist Initiative to effectively align the procedure design with the challenges and realities faced by business aircraft pilots in live operations.

In 2016, he completed his Aircraft Accident Investigator training with the National Transportation Safety Board and currently supports the Bombardier Air Safety Investigation Office as an auxiliary investigator.

He was nominated to the 11-member SSD Advisory Council in 2020, and has also participated in numerous SSD events and activities as a speaker, panelist and moderator since 2015.
Étienne is based at Bombardier headquarters in Montreal, Canada.

Michael Graham took the oath of office as the 45th Member of the National Transportation Safety Board on January 3, 2020.

Before coming to the NTSB, Member Graham was with Textron Aviation, Inc. (Cessna/Hawker/Beechcraft) from 1997 to 2019. Since 2012 he served as their Director of Flight Operations Safety, Security & Standardization and was responsible for the safe and secure operations of all domestic and international flights conducted in support of the company. The scope of his responsibility included managing the flight operation’s Safety Management System and its certification, administering the Emergency Response Plan, supervising Air Safety Investigations, and overseeing two company airports and a control tower.

Mr. Graham joined Cessna as a Demonstration Pilot and held positions in Production Flight Test and Delivery. He was instrumental in the merging of Beechcraft flight operations with Cessna’s after its acquisition. Mike also started the company’s highly successful Aviation Safety Action Program which became the model program for Part 91 operators.

Member Graham also provided safety leadership to multiple industry and government advisory committees during his tenure at Textron Aviation. He served as Chairman of the Air Charter Safety Foundation and Board of Governors, led the Single Pilot Safety Working Group of the National Business Aviation Association’s Safety Committee and was a member of the General Aviation Information Analysis Team. Mr. Graham was presented with Flight Safety Foundation’s 2019 Business Aviation Meritorious Service Award for his work.

Mr. Graham began his career in the U.S. Navy as a Naval Aviator flying A-7’s and F/A-18’s and completed two operational deployments including Combat Air Patrol missions over Iraq and Kuwait in support of Southern Watch. He served as a F/A-18 Flight Instructor, Evaluator and model manager for all Navy and Marine F/A-18’s. He was handpicked to develop the first ever F/A-18 Aircrew Coordination Training syllabus and facilitated the training of the first group of instructors. He received a Navy Achievement Medal for his development of an Occupational Safety and Health program and twice received the Top Eleven Award for best landing grades aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln.

From 1995-1997 he worked at Boeing/McDonnell Douglas as a F/A-18 aircrew instructor. Along with instructing, he developed courseware and served as an operational analyst and lead integration engineer receiving the Quality Achievement Award for his work.

Member Graham earned his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of New Mexico. He is also a certified Airline Transport Pilot with 10,000 flight hours and is type rated in six different Citation models.

Jolie is a seasoned executive in the business aviation industry with over 20 years of experience. Her expertise spans across many areas of the industry from aircraft operations to asset funding. Jolie became a shareholder and Chief Executive Officer of L’VOYAGE in early 2021. L’VOYAGE offers bespoke private jet charter services to discerning corporate travellers and jet-setters for their worldwide travel. Jolie is serving the influx of new customers who are considering and utilizing business jets as their travel method of choice by developing new technologies and providing a safer, more transparent, legal and sound charter services in the post-covid market.

As the homegrown seeds of the Asian business aviation industry, Jolie has helped forge the
business aviation industry's tremendous growth over 20 years. Jolie began her career in the business aviation industry in 1999 as the Marketing and Business Development Manager of Metrojet and Heliservices. She subsequently joined TAG Aviation Asia in 2006 as Director Business Development, assisting the company with over 30 aircraft under full management
contracts. She held that title until her departure in 2013, then joined CIT’s Business Aircraft
Finance in Asia as the company’s Vice President. In 2016, Jolie returned to TAG Aviation as CEO where she successfully transformed the company to become the leading aviation
company in the region offering aircraft management, charter, maintenance, FBO and other aviation services.

Jolie holds a Master Degree from the Macquarie Graduate School of Management in Australia and attended her undergraduate studies at the prestigious Hotel Consult “Ceaser Ritz” Colleges in Switzerland.

Jolie is married to Neil Howard, a British national who has lived in Hong Kong for over 25 years. Neil is the Chairman and CEO and of a Hong Kong listed construction company. Neil and Jolie have three sons. The family enjoys an active lifestyle including activities such as tennis, cycling, golfing and boating.

James is a Partner in HFW's market leading aviation team with over ten years' experience tackling complex legal issues in the aerospace, transport, logistics, and insurance industries.

He is a dedicated advisor to the airline, general, and business aviation sectors and provides advice across various jurisdictions relating to commercial litigation, regulatory issues, and the drafting/review of commercial contracts. He has also handled some of the region's largest aviation accidents in recent years for both operators and their insurers.

James is also developing a practice which focuses on emerging technologies and their application to the aerospace sector. This includes actively advising the aviation industry as to the legal implementation of such technologies as well as digital transformation projects. He actively supports the start-up industry and was recently appointed as a mentor to Singapore's Starburst Accelerator program where he works with up and coming aviation tech start-ups.

James has significant client facing in-house experience gained through corporate secondments at AIG where he held the position of Complex Claims Adjuster in the Aerospace Claims Department as well as at the insurance broker Willis where he worked as a Legal Counsel in the Willis' Legal Department.

He is currently the co-head of the Asian Business Aviation Association’s (AsBAA) Singapore Chapter and a committee member of the Singapore British Chamber of Commerce Transport, Logistics and Supply Chain Committee. In 2019 he was named one of Singapore’s 20 most influential lawyers under 40 by Singapore Business Review.

James has recently led the HFW aviation team's efforts in responding to the impact of COVID-19 and was quoted in the New York Times and numerous industry publications discussing the impact it is having on the sector. This has also led to him being invited to speak on the topic by a number of organisations including the Chartered Insurance Institute and the International Union of Aviation Insurers. He was also recently invited to speak at Lloyd's of London before the Lloyd's Market Association on the safety risks inadvertently created by passenger compensation regulation EU 261.

James is admitted to practice in England & Wales, Hong Kong, and the Republic of Ireland.

Leo Knaapen is an experienced leader and an influential force in his representation of Bombardier across civil aviation. As Chief of Industry Affairs, he is responsible for strengthening Bombardier’s global contributions by engaging, supporting and guiding its involvement in industry associations, regulatory and government agencies through working groups and committees, speaker opportunities, events and sponsorships.
Mr. Knaapen began his career in aerospace at Pratt & Whitney Canada in 1985. He joined Bombardier Aerospace in 1989, and in 1992 was named spokesperson for Bombardier’s Canadair division. In 1997, Leo Knaapen assumed responsibility for media and public relations at Bombardier Business Aircraft. In this role, he led the team responsible for communications on a complete range of products including Learjet, Challenger and Global business jets, pre-owned aircraft, Skyjet International charter, special mission aircraft, and customer support and services.
In 2007, he assumed leadership of Bombardier’s industry affairs portfolio, and has been instrumental in heightening Bombardier’s overall profile within the industry. He has increased the involvement of Bombardier Business Aircraft in key business and general aviation portfolios including safety, environment and air navigation, and has also guided Bombardier’s overall engagement with international civil aviation organizations.
Mr. Knaapen currently serves as Chair of the Quebec Chapter of the Canadian Business Aviation Association (CBAA). He is a member of the Bombardier Safety Standdown Advisory Council and also supported the development of the Safety Management Systems involving Design and Manufacturing for ICAO Annex 19. He is the Bombardier representative on the Board of Directors of Geneva-based Air Transport Action Group (ATAG) and sits on the Board of the National Aeronautic Association (NAA) in Washington, D.C.
Born in the Hague, Netherlands, Leo Knaapen is proficient in Dutch and French. He graduated from Concordia University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism, and worked at several newspapers and periodicals before entering corporate communications in 1981.
He is based at Bombardier Business Aircraft headquarters in Montreal, Canada.

Anthony is Director of External Affairs at the Asian Business Aviation Association (AsBAA), where he leads in government affairs, public affairs, safety initiatives, and industry events. Anthony spearheaded the launch of AsBAA’s Safety Summit, Safety Week, the AsBAA Aircrew Mental Health awareness intiative, and AsBAA’s "ICRS" - Asia’s first Illegal Charter Reporting System. In 2022, Anthony advised the Philippine Congress in the formation of the Philippine Transportation Safety Board (PTSB).

Anthony was the editor-in-chief of one of Asia’s leading business aviation magazines, where he covered the Asian business aviation industry’s development since 2011. Anthony has profiled dozens of business aviation entrepreneurs, leaders, and business aircraft owners in Asia and around the world. Anthony is also a contributing editor with Aviation International News.

Previously based in the US and Shanghai and now in Hong Kong, Anthony is an FAA-licensed fixed and rotary-wing pilot and was formerly an air accident investigative assistant with the NTSB’s Eastern Region headquarters. Anthony is a graduate of the NTSB Training Center and the University of California, Davis. Anthony is native in English and Cantonese, and proficient in Mandarin.

Katharine Ng is the Managing Director of OneCrew, Hong Kong. Founded in 2004, OneCrew specializes in aviation human factors, aviation security and management skills training and consulting for commercial, business, and general aviation. Beyond aviation, Katharine has also delivered leadership programs for organizations such as the Clinton Global Initiative and the United Nations World Food Programme.

In addition to leading OneCrew, Katharine held the position of Human Factors Advisor/Consultant for Cebu Pacific Air for 2 years from 2017 to 2018. Appointed by Cebu Pacific’s Leadership, with a mission to help shape and promote the organization’s safety culture, Katharine's responsibilities included Human Factors Department set up, human factors strategic planning, project management, recruitment, training & coaching of Crew Resource Management facilitators, and leadership guidance to the Human Factors Manager and a team of 40 facilitators/safety champions.

Katharine’s aviation journey has taken her from flight attendant for Singapore Airlines and Cathay Pacific, to 8 years with Cathay Pacific’s Human Factors Department where she helped to roll out the company’s first cabin and flight deck crew combined Crew Resource Management (CRM) programs. As project leader and facilitator, Katharine ran Train-the-Trainer workshops for new CRM facilitators, managed facilitator schedules and program development projects, and led sales and marketing efforts of external CRM training services.

Katharine’s background includes co-founding Viva Macau Airlines in 2004. Holding the position as VP/Director of People (HR) & Inflight Services, her crucial achievements include helping to secure initial funding for the airline start-up, defining the airline’s corporate culture and management systems, hiring and training 150 staff, and helping to gain the airline’s air operator’s certificate (AOC) leading to its successful launch.

Katharine holds qualifications in Adult Education & Training from Hong Kong University as well as multiple IATA certifications in aviation safety and security. Katharine contributes her expertise by chairing, moderating and speaking at international aviation conferences.

Patrick is the current Asian Business Aviation Association Chapter Chair for the Philippines. He is an experienced pilot with over 13,000H total flight time in various aircraft types. He also was part of management handling Safety and Security for an LCC. He is a teacher at heart and continue to be a mentor and coach for aspiring pilots or even aviation enthusiasts. Being the AsBAA Chapter Chair for the Philippines, Patrick have bolstered the camaraderie of the Philippine Chapter, and even at this pandemic, the Philippine business aviation has never been such alive and thriving as before.

Patrick resides in Manila with his wife and kids, and is a triathlete, joining numerous local races before the pandemic. While at this time, he bikes around the city and loves to spend time with family over popcorn and Netflix.
